Painting meaning 
Representation of Lamat, a nawal, that is, a glyph of the sacred Mayan calendar. There are 20 nawales and they come from the Tzolk'in, which is a Mayan lunar calendar. Lamat symbolizes life and regeneration. That's a pretty broad meaning on its own; but the Mayans made it a little more specific by referring to it as the seed that gives life. In that sense, it goes from the seeds of plants to the semen of both animals and humans; who see it as the source of life that was brought from the cosmos. It is associated with the planet Venus, the color yellow and the direction of the south.
